SHORT AND SWEET

Another night of extremes..when I finally went to bed out of sheer tiredness at 1.30am it was still 31c inside and 31c outside..Doc threw up as I think the heats getting to him…we are keeping all the animals cool as we can and well hydrated but the unrelenting nature of this heat is taking it’s toll…he is 11 and as we age we find it harder to recoup. He was sick a little bit again this morning but has had his brekkie and we are keeping a close eye on him for any other signs that somethings wrong. Todays forecast is a doozie…pretty much no place in our state is safe if a fire starts to run.

And that’s us right in the middle in North Central. So I won’t have time to reply to comments folks ..sorry and I am sure you all understand..we need to see this weather out and while it’s early I am just popping this up so you know we are fine but not out of the weather gods woods yet.

And to make it even better the news said this morning Adelaide which is in South Australia to the direct left of this map is having a days break then a week of more bad weather…not good because we get their weather a day or so later.. Looks like no real break in sight for awhile…

Off to wet some tea towels and pop them on as bandanas for the pups..both asleep and both tired….

Hope those of you who have snow keep warm..the cold can be so cruel..hope those with miserable rain get a little ray of sunshine…hope those who have storms batten down the hatches and keep safe…we all have weather systems plating havoc with our lives at the moment and even though I am focused on here I still feel for everyone who has to deal in a different way with what Mother Nature is throwing at them.

Hugs Fozziemum

  2. You keep say.

I have some of those neck tie thingys that have gel in them. You soak them in cold water for a few minutes and then squeeze out the excess and pop them round your neck, or your dogs. Polly had one on a lot last summer.

    • Thanks Molly..Doc felt much better after I popped him in the bath with me..he finds it harder each year..poor old sausage..the pups pool water was too hot and the heat outside too much for swim..took him a while but he stayed in with me and got a good soaking..then rubbed himself from one end of the house to the other πŸ˜‰ as long as he was cool I didn’t really care.

  3. Mother Nature is certainly passing out the trials and tribulations this year when it comes to weather…..but nowhere is it more dangerous than where you are. We know you are staying safe and as cool as possible but we’re hoping for a break for you there down under!

  4. We had fires closer to us yesterday, but nothing too threatening, or really close to us, hopefully it will stay that way. Keep safe, and try and keep yourself and pets cool too, thinking of you.

    • Thanks Leanne..yes the fires were all over the damn place..the heat and wind here was hideous..woken up to 14c what a relief…the pups cooled down after a bath but really struggled I think with the continuous heat..safe here and now got a lot of catchup stuff to do…arghhh you stay safe too ! 5. Awwwww shame Bev. So sorry to hear Doc is not doing so well with this heat. Simba gets like that too when it’s so hot. What I usually do is to get some Coke and then take the gas out with some sugar. It seems so help. I have low blood pressure so when it’s so hot, I don’t feel well at all and I think it’s the same with Simba. Afterwards we would eat some lightly salted Lays chips and then he’s up and going again. The wet towels certainly helps a lot. Thinking of you all hon. πŸ˜€ *big hugs*

    • Thanks Sonel..he is feeling great today πŸ™‚ we have to be super careful what we give him as he had Pancreatitis a few years back and spent three nights in emergency at the vets…so he had a cool bath with me and perked up a treat. It’s a cooler day still quite warm but not extreme so he has caught up on his sleep and looks fine πŸ™‚ Big hugs back πŸ™‚

      • So glad to hear that Bev. Yes, Simba had the same problems and used to get a lot of infection and I had to neuter him. I have to check his anal glands every week still. Our babies and their problems. Sounds like us. LOL!

        • They are a worry , he’s had a knee reco, a huge op to remove a grass seed from under his armpit and then this Pancreatitis from a marrow bone..so his poor old pancreas can’t cope with the fat from the bones he used to love…so rib bones instead..all the animals here are neutered or spayed so we haven’t had any more dramas of any kind apart from the usual arthritis etc..and yes just like us LOL πŸ™‚

    • Mollie we will.Doc is fine now..cooled him in a bath with me..heat was radiating off him..just his age and no end to the temps…today much better 33c not cool but better…fires are still going but not near us atm…many people have lost homes though and it was a horrible day….we are watching one closely as it is a decent size and seems quite fierce..but we are safe and aware of our surrounds and all the animals are happy to have had a cooler day!! hugs and lovies to you Fozziemum xxxx

  6. You are such a darling to think about others with weather issues…i would rather have frigid cold and have to stay inside or put on multiple layers to go out then live with the fire threat & intense heat you are experiencing…..rain is just rain (unless it floods tho’) and snow is just snow (unless it melts & flodds) but fire is relenteless & it kills….
We understand if you can not reply…we just want you to know we are thinking about you all there with Love.
