The shopping list…has me listing..

Ok guys as you know Bacon and I have been discussing shopping lists and the prices we all pay for day to day stuff…having done the shopping today let me say arghhhhh …I am so far behind the eight ball that it was a breeze in breeze out wit goods in tow in the trolley that universally is despised by us all!! four wheels none work….shopping centre reno’s had me negotiating a miasma of workmen..broken tiles..people dazzled by the complexities of parking ..seemingly it is ok to park behind someone waiting for them to leave even though clearly they have no way out..and are wrestling a large double shot latte four little party pies as we call them and a trolley that needs calipers…ok it was 2.30pm and I had just realised that I still had not eaten..all day…don’t ask I won’t tell…

I eased into my car and deliberately ate my pies while said el’stupido waited for me to leave ..still no clue I had no way out..the pies were nice and the coffee was crappy…just sayin…bolted home dogs unimpressed as I had also had to go to a craft shop..then a camera shop…then the pharmacist…you get the picture kids..

I arrived home goodies in tow…shoved it in pantries freezers cupboards shoe boxes bedrooms barns laundries…sing with me folks …so then onto the next joy the making of blueberry jam for a comp..anywho…I have my list…I myself am listing…as if on a ship..sinking into the quagmire of grocery hell….

So a loaf of bread can be between $2.00 and $7.00 Aus

Gallon of milk..we buy in litres and averages at $1.00 a litre

Dozen Eggs can be $4.00 Aus but Free range which I buy are $6.00

Petrol is $ 1.54 Aus on the cheap a litre

Movie tickets are $17.00 Aus adult so my kids who have a life tell me bwahahaah

Jar of peanut butter (or as my kids used to call it woo woo peter??)  $4.65 Aus for a 375 gram jar

Fancy feast for the girls usually $ 1.20 Aus a tin

And the country that was founded on the Lamb will now charge up to $23.00 Aus per kilo for a leg ….

I would have more prices but my minds a goggle and I sadly have minutes to type and this jam to get sorted and it’s 10pm at night ..I do believe I am again behind 😉

  1. maybe I should fill the tank of our Elephant Skater in Australia? It’s 50 pence cheaper than ours :o) I hope you will find some time to relax and to pamper your soul a little. How about ice cream? it’s “on offer” this week and a small (very small!) bucket of häagen dazs is 2.69…. have a great wednesday :o)

  2. Slow down, you’re doing our heads in again 😀 Wonder what the stats are for murders in shopping mall car parks? We’re jolly pleased that Easy has done our Euro pricing already, such lazy sods, I know.

  3. WOW – Isn’t it so outstanding how big of a different prices are all over the world? Mom and dad would *never* go to the movies there… they can barely afford it here. And if they go to the ‘cheap theater’ for $1-$1.50, they have to get the jaws of life to get them out of their cheap seats – Snorts. Love these posts today! XOXO – Bacon
P.S. Slow down my friend. Breathe. Daddy says life is a journey not a race. We need you here. 🙂

      • My goodness some people don’t even think! She was probably sitting in her car going “why on earth is this woman not leaving yet?!” without putting much thought into the concept that people can’t leave the parking space you want if you completely block them in lol. Nawww, poor guys! And poor you 😦 ❤

  11. Thank Bast mom is allergic to the yellow dye they use in popcorn and can’t go to the movie anywhere! That is flippin’ ridiculous ANYWHERE! Milk is $4.00 US here, Loaf of bread $3.75, Eggs $2.35-$3.50 depending, gas $3.35-$3.83 a gallon depending on grade today. Not the worst area in the States for sure! Just disgusted that basic like milk that children need is spendy like that.

    • I agree Marty’s mum 😉 the price of vegetables here has skyrocketed too..drought and fire ruining crops….I was spolit with the veggie garden we had built at our old home but here we have not had the chance yet..fencing being top priority..green beans were $12.00 a kilo …kidding me!! so once we get sorted the veggie garden is getting under way!!! we have worse prices for Gas here which is insane….milk wars with giant supermarkets have seen milk as low as $1 a litre..but this is killing the dairy farmers who are going under with the price of stock feed soaring due to the drought or fires and then the price of water for the stock is hideously high…so I don’t get the cheap milk as I can’t feel right about it . Hugs Bev xx

      • Yeah hoping to get the garden in here this year too. Can’t do fruit but veggies are going sky high here too 😦 we can all only hope it turns around to at least a balance. I don’t mind paying a fair price.

        • I agree i don’t mind if the prices are due to unforseen circumstances..i prefer the markets as i wonder just how much the poor farmers get..tough for farmers and producers in these times 😦

  14. I’ve been enjoying the grocery lists–prices are all over the place it seems, except Easy blew me away with NO PEANUT BUTTER except on special occasions. Sage thinks that’s absolutely criminal.

I can pay anywhere from $1.98 for eggs (and wonder what they’ve been fed/inject ed) to anywhere up to $8 for organic, local, cruelty-free, blah, blah, blah.

    Like

    • I know Sage…no peanut butter ..crazy talk 🙂 yep I always pay more for free range which is all we have at the moment as a big outbreak of birdflu at a NSW farm meant all the poor chickens had to be euthanased..which I guess shows the conditions the birds are in and explains why I buy free range until I get my own girls again 🙂

  15. LOL Bev I am behind your ‘behind’ too!! Wow your prices make ours look positively cheap in comparison!!! Wow…..
I complain when I have to pay over 85 cents Cdn for a tin of Fancy Feast…I will shut up now, lol….
    Love ya madly, Sherri-Ellen.
P.S.: Hope the blueberry jam turned out well 😉
