Autumn finally brings some rain

Hi guys..Autumn has finally given us some rain..not a lot but it’s better than none….and the temps have dropped so the fire is blazing and the pups and kitties are taking full advantage of any warm spot!

Today we filled two more garden beds..one to go and i think another to be built and then filled..so hubby was back and forth getting trailer loads of mushroom compost.

I have seeds that are sprouting for Turnips (i love turnip tops and they are an amazing super food too) i also have seeds sprouting for Kale and Cavola Nero and a weird Italian cauliflower that is green and almost shaped like a pine cone! i want to get beetroots in and other goodies so very excited.

We get good frosts which Brassicas all love so finger crossed we shall have lots of fresh veggies to eat and sell at the local green grocer.

My meltdown from the other day is over..i took a breath and have been slowly rebuilding all the work i undid..sorry for the rant but i was super cheesed off and tired …yikes!

An interesting trip to the naturopath last week has me on some supplements for low magnesium and other bits and bobs..first time i have ever seen my blood cells under a microscope..poor things…tired they are..clumping in some places..oddly shaped in others…very bizarre..the weirdest thing was the teeny tiny floaties around the red blood cells..the naturopath asked when i had last eaten and what i had ..seems these floaties are fat..and she said my liver was breaking them down fine so bravo liver! she did however say she could see why i was tired…so armed with things i cannot even pronounce i came home..i have been a good girl ..less carbs more proteins..cut back a bit on sugar and back in a month.

I even got an email with the pics of my blood cells…we really are an amazing machine!

I am also excited because this week i get my new car! yep Harry High Pants (the Rodeo) will still be here as during fire season i need it to get out of Dodge! and that is why i am getting for the first time in my life a car that is NOT a family car or a WORKHORSE car..i am getting a lovely sporty hatch.

So lot’s happening this week..Doc is off to the vet tomorrow morning. He has a tooth i believe needs to come out and if so then his nails need doing while he is under..i want the vet to check some of his warts as they get knocked and bleed…and i also want to discuss his weird night time behaviour.

He has taken to going out at night and sleeping outside on his bed..now this is odd for him..neither of the boys ever sleep out at night they are in our room..and usually the slightest breeze and Doc is shivering…so weird.i have had to lock the laundry door to stop him as ..and i know you will think i am odd….but my biggest fear is that if something is wrong and he passes away in his sleep i do not want it to be outside alone in the cold.

So i think maybe he has a little doggy dementia or perhaps a cognitive issue with night and day which can happen to pups..thing is we have never been lucky enough to have dogs live to 12Β  and 13..so this senior dog stuff is new to us too!

So now i head to bed..and leave you with pics from last winters flowers…only a couple as i am still mid photo wrangling!

Have a super week guys…Loves Fozziemum xxx

  1. I’m so happy with you that you get YOUR car, that’s so cool to have not only a rolling cage for the trip to the vet or a brewski truck for shopping trips, it’s a car and it’s yours! yay!
I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with doc, maybe it’s just a special “foxytude” that he wants to sleep outside of the bed (I understand what you mean and I agree that would be so darned sad).

  2. I’m so glad that you got the much needed rain and that things are looking up now! I understand your rant from the other day…things like that are so frustrating! I can’t tell you how often I am sitting cursing at my computer. Luke will come running over to be sure his Mom is OK!
Yay for a new car…that is exciting!
Our beagle Kobi was our first senior dog too, and he often did things that worried us. At times he would sleep so soundly we feared he was gone. I hope the vet can have some answers for you. xxoo

  3. Lovely flower photos.

Glad you have the heat on for the fur babies.

Sounds like you have been busy with the planting. My dad use to grow Golden Beet. The best thing ever with beef. Mum use to do a white sauce to go on the beet.

Hope your new eating regime helps.

Lucky you getting a new car. We will want photos.

We are sending positive thoughts for Doc vet visit. Think you are wise to keep him from being out all night.

Hope you have had a lovely weekend. Sue, Polly & Honey

  4. Beautiful pictures, FM. We are awaiting warm weather to go out in the garden. It is warm today but mom has pulled a muscle in her groin area. She limps about like somebody shot her. She is going to make Spanish Rice this afternoon so it should take all afternoon for her to make it for din din. I hope she comes out later and we go for a walk.

  5. We’ve got rain this morning. The ‘No Walk in Rain’ clause of our contract has been invoked. We may do some road work later…if it stops. Your garden sounds great. except for the Kale. SHE was brought up in Virginia and kale means a lump of greenish black smelly slop oozing on the side of a plate. Never been able to stomach it since.. Glad you got rain!

  8. Lovely photos and good luck Doc. Our dogs are seniors too so we are also having dental issues. Also no one except his close family would notice our Jack gets a bit confused sometimes. Not enough to worry about. We have no idea how old he actually is because he is from the lost dogs home. ❀

  9. So much news! Ok first up, mom wants to know what you do with the turnip tops? She hasn’t really eaten many turnips in her life butt would be interested to know what she could do with them, other than put them in a salad. Secondly, you already have a fire going at night? What your night time temps like at the moment? We’ve dropped to the low 20s during the day and around 10 – 11C at night. Finally, we’ve heard of doggie dementia in older pups…we hope Doc doesn’t have it butt we do hope the vet can help you out with some answers.
    BIG licks,

    • Hi sweeties…tell mum the turnip tops are delish..you can even leave the turnips in the ground over winter and just cut the tops..i saute them after chopping them into shreds (like for coleslaw say) and boiling them until they are almost tender..then drain them and squeeze (like spinach) and then in butter garlic onions and chilli mushrooms..really anything you want ..long and slow..they are super delish ! and good for you..you can ..yep we have a cold front that has come in..day time in mid teens ..last night was 2C when i took the pups out for a tinkle! the vet is doing a dental friday and a nail clip while Doc is under..also getting rid of some warts that he knocks and they bleed and he is having a consult with Dr Rayya as to why Doc is being a bit odd at night ..so more news Friday sweeties πŸ™‚ i am off to start dinner..and stoke the fire..so cold my eyes were watering out there brrr ::) loves Fozziemum xxxx

      • YAY on the new car! We MUST see a photo of course…….speaking of photos – brilliant rose shots! As for your health, I’m just happy you have been seeing someone who can keep you on track because someone who is as BUSY as you are needs to feel good and have the energy to do all that you do. It’s tough to feel “depleted” when you need to be “full” !!!! Hope things go well for Doc……….doggie dementia may be the issue – I think Sam has a bit of cat dementia as well but he’s functioning just fine with it so far.

        Hugs, Pam

  10. Oh my friend. These pictures of flowers are beautiful. If I put my snout close to the computer monitor, I can *almost*smell them when I close my eyes. LOVE THEM ALL! And congrats on your new ride – can’t wait to see them. And your new diet – I love it. That’s exactly how mom is *suppose* to be eating. Snorts – notice I said suppose. She needs to start back that way. Good luck my friend. Miss talking to you! XOXO – Bacon

    WOW!!! I am blawn away….
Hurrah for the new car! Sounds like you are quite happy with it.
I have missed your rant so will check past entries to see what you wrote. I think the past few months have seen many of us all aroudn the world ‘ranting’ over one thing or another!
Doc Doc Doc I am wondering what is going on with him also. And you not wanting him to be alone outside if he passes is not crazy; it is just how I would think. I do not know anything about Senior dogs so can not advise you…
I hope Doc is all right; he is such a lovely boy…
