Flowers for my friends

I was very lucky to get a new lens for Mother’s Day from hubby..i am a spoilt girl…i am also very lucky to have such wonderful blog friends..who stopped by to cheer me on yesterday…

I thought it only fitting that as i unleashed myself from the computer and left the house with my new lens i would head to the conservatory in town..and of course it was full of Chrysanthemums…i have never been a fan..but after seeing them up close and the hollows and tubes all with different light deposits..well i must say i am wishing i was a bug and could wander through them..please forgive my first bumbling attempts with this kind of work..again i fear i have done no real justice yet to this lens..but i am excited for the first time in awhile and will get the hang of it i think…i also wanted to say thankyou to you all..i hope you can enjoy my little gift to you all..

  1. Your revelations via your camera lens can be related to life. So often we overlook the details and, as a result, miss so much. I could ramble on in that vein but don’t want to divert your Post away from the photography! πŸ™‚

  5. Stellar start with the new lens! What is it? It looks like I’m inheriting the big camera we share, as hubby got himself a Fuji he seems to love more.
Did they have the chrysanthemums because they are called ‘mums’? Too clever by half if so!

  9. Crikey …… Those shots aren’t good????????? Could have fooled me. My Mum loves Chrysanthemums but she likes the old fashioned white ones best. S’pose she’ll get inundated with them tomorrow, aye??

    • Jan i bet summer will be there before you know it! and thankyou i am enjoying learning about the new lens πŸ™‚ i use a Nikon D3100..and i must say i do love it..it was a gift for my 50th nearly four years ago…i have many len’s that i use the newest one is a Nikon 40mm the one i use for close ups of the roos is a Sigma 150mm-600mm heavy really heavy good lens and much cheaper than the nikon equivalent..most sigma lens are compatible with nikons..i imagine my camera is much cheaper now but still it is a really good one that has not let me down..i think the next one will be a faster one simply for the wildlife but it will still be a nikon as i havehad a great experience with this camera..the other lens’s are the 55-200mm the 18-55mm and the wide angle is a 10-20mm sigma so welcome πŸ™‚ have fun looking! loves Bev XXX

Not to add to your angst over pictures, techie stuff, your hectic pace, and internet woes, but have you ever checked out SmugMug?

    • Thanks sweets PIx still working it out! an odd lens..the front can get in the way of what you snap so have to be mindful..kind of a stretch from the 600mm hahhaha how much do you want to eat the white mums..look like meringue,,,ahhhhh ..i have been told about Smugmug and must go have a look see πŸ™‚ loves Bev xx

      • I read about the 40mm on Ken Rockwell’s site when I purchased my 50mm three years ago. I kind of worship Ken Rockwell… πŸ˜€ I just purchased an 18-300 last fall… not liking it much. Thank heavens I hung on to my 70-300. And yes, the white Mums do look like meringue… πŸ™‚ Happy Mum’s Day Bev!

        • Ken also has me hooked hahahaha πŸ™‚ it i always hard to look at lens’s wothout finding contrasting reviews..or totally spec driven ones which have me yawning for the most part..i know i should not say that but…i wanted to see if i really enjoyed this kind of photo snapping an i must say you could get hooked..as much as i am surrounded by big there is a lot of super small stuffs too πŸ™‚ what do you not like about the 18-300? and thankyou i will have a nice day tomorrow and i hope you do too!!

          Liked by 1 person

          • Yes about the reviews… yawn. And Ken can get really old but I still love his suggestions and his wit and his HUGE ego… πŸ™‚ I think your 40mm would be a delight. The 18-300 is HEAVY and it has lots of distortion… fixable but painassable.. πŸ˜€ I was trying to get rid of the 18-55 and the 70-300 by getting the 18-300. The thing is, I am in love with that little 18-55 kit lens… πŸ™‚

            • I love my 18-55 and i also like the 55-200 being the one i used until i got Brutus for my roo shots…yes fixable is never a good thing..means time…hahahaha yes that ego is hilarious…:)

              • I think the 55-200 would have been a great choice for me… must check it out. Maybe I will unload the 70-300 and the 18-300 and get the 55-200… LOL! Oh I just love talking picture taking with you… πŸ˜€ But all the changing of lenses, maybe I just need to get a CoolPix with a zoomable not changeable lens. Okay, I won’t hold you hostage any longer!

                • I have an old d60 I can’t let go of and that is what I keep the 70-300 on. I usually just leave the 50mm on my 5100. I have two cameras Bev and thought it would be the answer but I am still lugging them both around. Oy too much befuddlement. Truthfully just need to get rid of it all and get something similar to a CoolPix P7800. My tripod has an inch of dust on it… πŸ™‚ Yes put little Cleo to work! I love your enthusiasm for picture taking, lenses and all picture takin’ related items. I was like that… about 6 years ago!

                • The Coolpix does do a great job i have heard…OY befuudled we are..if i donlt use this tripod my back will spasm from the 600m makes the whole thing weigh just over two kilos..took it out to shoot those flowers and lugged it around to shoot the bats and got a nice old back ache…Cleo has now left..supper and off to sleep with the other girls in Al-Catraz..most likely plotting world domination…bless i wish here well πŸ™‚ i am off to bed soon a late late one last night/morning waiting for Phil to return from a road rescue call out..3am ..urghhhh talk again soon darlin one πŸ™‚ loves BEV XX
