Raspberry Roos

Todays visit very close to the house by the young mob was lovely..i cannot tell you how happy i was to spot them…and guess what folks..

Remember how the 9 acres sold next door and the land had a big part cleared to build a house..well the guy who bought it has sold it..to the neighbour on the other side..Anna the Dr has bought it to keep as is for all the creatures who go between our properties..there will be no building..just land..

In two weeks it will be empty ..again..except for roos and other native animals..you cannot believe how happy i am..

Do you think the roos know this ?

    • Such a relief..as nice as the guy was the talk of how the roos were a problem had me dreading what would happen…as it is we do not see our echidnas anymore since that big patch was cleared..but they will return..Anna said when she saw it for sale she thought it best if she wanted to keep her views and the visiting roos that she buy it..i could kiss her πŸ™‚ very exciting news here indeed! πŸ™‚

        • I agree..she is a very private lady and we only knew she bought it as her two dogs got out..never saw them before ..we got them to the vets and he scanned them then rang her and hubby took them back..she was so upset as she never lets them out loose..so a very animal friendly lady πŸ™‚ and i am sure the sounds of the trail bikes etc will not be missed either..she was very worried the roos would go away..and they have been a bit scarce..phew..lucky and feeling like we have won the jackpot with this now πŸ™‚

      • We have an 11,00 square foot house that was built by a hunter behind us…if I could have, I would have bought the land when we bought the house. In retrospect, maybe I should have just laid out the money and kept the land free. Then we would have had a lovely wildlife area AND we wouldn’t have had to share the driveway. Oh well.

        • If we had the money we would have bought it here also..but just shy of 300 thousand is a tad too much πŸ™‚ i will be asking if she wants help to re plant some native plants as a big patch where he was going to build is bald..but the rest i must admit he has made it clear of rubbish and burnt off a lot of nasty stuff..

How nice of your neighbour to buy the land so the wildlife can use it.

  4. Oh great news! It is the Roo’s land in the first place and we hoomins are merely using the land with their permission. I get the feeling the Roos know something is up…what it is…not sure but they will know happy sounds as opposed to danger signs. So happy your neighbour was able to buy the property.

  5. That is just the most excellent news! Now you can keep enjoying and sharing your Roos!

We are lucky that most of the land around where we live is in what they call Agricultural Reserve (and can only be farmed) or has TFLs (Federal or Provincial lands with Tree Forest Licenses) for logging. This means the land stays as it is until the TFL is exercised which can only happen once every 75 years. And only if the TFL beside it has not been exercised in the last 50 years so we can maintain our forests. Irritates the logging companies, but means we live in a wilderness!

    • It is super news πŸ™‚ the land on the left of us is a strip of crown land and our back paddocks back onto paddocks…our street is a dead end and all properties range from 8 acres to 12 …we are on 11…our area is protected by clearing due to the rare ess of the white gums here..and the town is a no subdivide area…so we are lucky in that way…just sad such a big chunk got cleared for a house that now is not being built…i am sure it will go back to wild which is awesome..maybe then Eddy and Edwina and their youngen Al the Echidnas will return πŸ™‚ xxx

  6. Perfect! How wonderful things worked out that way – the roos can continue to enjoy the wide open spaces they love and you’ll continue to have mother nature on that property instead of another house! It’s a WIN/WIN!

    • Emma you would most likely have the same confused look our pups has when we first moved here πŸ™‚ even the cats looked out the window wondering what the heck they were..they are wonderful animals to have live here on our land and having them in our property is always a joy for me πŸ™‚ hugs Fozziemum xxx
