I did say i wanted to go on a trip didn’t i ?

Well what an eventful few weeks..and the cherry on the cake of discombobulation was my little trip.

Yes i have been banging on about taking a trip…well ask and you shall fall..not quite the trip i had in mind!

I was lucky that hubby had gotten back from Sydney only hours before and our son and his wife were here..which they would not have been if hubby was still away..yikes..

I am still very sore but also very lucky i could have done some major damage as i hit my spine directly on bone when i fell, i have been able to sit up for awhile but then forced to lie down..tomorrow’s MRI for my sciatica ,which has not let up, will be an interesting moment i am sure..as i may have to be steam rolled flat before they can do it πŸ™‚

Today Spring which was late in arriving..well it left..actually it left yesterday but today was hotter..by 10.30am ,which was really 9.30am as daylight savings kicked in, it was already 33C ..we got to over 38C today..this week we have been told will be nasty heat and wind..joy of joys.

Funny we never have a gentle easing into any season here..it’s bang ..

I was so happy to get emails and hear that some peeps had received their cards..i hope everyone else gets theirs soon as the mail is so random..

I never understand how different it can be,from one state to another one country to another..i mean my sister sends me something from suburbs away it takes a week..i send her something and she jokes she gets it before i sent it!

So if you are still waiting i am super sorry 😦  seems the post is not as efficient as us bloggers at getting things done!

So i am off to bed..my back aching..and i have been trying to reply and catch up but when it starts singing i just have to ‘down tools’ as us Aussies say πŸ™‚

So tonight i leave you with a most beautiful scene..i think so anyway..

I was in my kitchen the day before my tumble and looked up to see this sweet family to the left and behind our barn..so i crept out the back door..

Now this family i think is a new one as they have been hanging around but are very skittish when they see me..which is fine…keeps them safe and me safe and all is right in the world!

So i had to be super quiet..they do have great hearing despite what some folks think..i grabbed an outdoor chair and popped it against the fence and like a jack in the box only slowly i popped my head and camera up..yes i know i wonder why i fall..go figure..

Well they did spot me and seemed to be quiet cautious but did not take off..i got a few shots but the trees were in my way..so i went back inside and slowly out the front..a few took off but the others seemed content to munch the green grasses that will soon be gone..and i could see why..there were a few Mums with joeys in the pouch..and hefty sized ones too!! .. little monkeys having a great time while poor Mum lugs them around πŸ™‚

I was so happy to see healthy happy families..so without anymore waffling as the back is getting antsy i present this gorgeous family..

Have a great week all..Loves Fozziemum

  4. I hope you make some progress every day and the pain lessens quickly. How funny (but not ha-ha funny!) that we both had the same type of fall – I’m also going for an MRI this week! We can compare notes from the couch…or floor… πŸ˜‰ I love the pics of the roo family, so sweet and they’ll look great on your note cards!

  5. Oh, my. I really feel for you. I have bad joints. Several of them have been replaced with artificial ones. I tend to fall a lot, too. Last Winter I fell and broke three ribs, displacing them. They kept moving in and out of place, so I ended up wearing a brace for 8 weeks to set them. *augh* The pain was excruciating. Please take care. I wish you a speedy complete recovery!
*P.S. Your pictures are phenomenal! I love your Roos.

  6. What an adorable family! And our cards did arrive so we’re thrilled. Yes, mail delivery is strange. I can remember when people from around the world sent Lorenza cards and gifts in Mexico before Christmas and she was lucky to receive them in February.

We are so sorry you tripped and were badly hurt. You must be related to Jan since tripping is her specialty. Lots of warm wishes for a rapid recovery!!!!!

  7. Thank you for the photos of this lovely family. I am very sorry to hear about the fall. I hope the MRI does not show anything serious. I had a fall like that some years ago and ended up with a transverse process spinal fracture. Not fun. Rest and take care of yourself. The heat sounds awful; even though, it is super rainy and cold here. Hugs, Janet

Luckily the house is like a cave, so the dogs aren’t too bothered. Another social morning at the river as it’s Labor Day! Good luck with the doctors.

  12. Bev I just finished watching a wonderful program called Nature on PBS.
It was 2 part on orphaned animal facilities in Costa Rica and Australia.
I learned so much about animals. I was kinda of amazed to learn about the LARGE fruit bat colony in Melbourne…and don’t tell anyone I said this but they are actually pretty cute. The ‘bat’ lady was amazing! There was a Roo rescue lady doing wonderful rescue work over the last 20+ years. She had tiny Joey’s all over house in little sacks…nursing them to health after they lost their moms.

  16. So sorry to hear about the fall. Hope you recover soon and quickly. I have knee concern but I have never fallen and I am learning to live with the mild discomfort that this causes. Beautiful photographs of a beautiful family. The cards arrived and they are lovely – thank you so much. Re the Postal Service – I think we sometimes forget that we (as of Sunday) live in a country with five time zones.

Yeah, we both had our trips. Not the ones we had in mind. I was lucky not to have hurt my back. Only my hands and knees and lucky for me I had some extra fat to keep anything from breaking. Why couldn’t it have been a trip to some exotic island! Pfffft! πŸ˜†

  20. I fall, run into things, prick, stab, bang and otherwise take injurious actions so much that I don’t even tense anymore when it happens. The most I get are scratches. Once, I walked right off a 16 foot ledge (walking and talking on a cell phone do not mix with me) and all I could think on the way down was “Not again.” Fortunately, an insanely thorny catclaw bush broke my fall, and no injuries other than the equivalent of a chinese death of a 1000 cuts resulted.

The moral of the story: If your uber-clumsy your whole life, you learn how to roll with it. In retrospect, I guess I should have been able to see into my own future when at 4 years old my ballet teacher recommended to my parents that I take up violin.

              • I guess I should explain: I would accidentally impale you, nicking a major artery as I was trying to put a tent stake in the ground, which is fine because you would be the one hammering the stake, meaning you would probably crack my skull with the hammer. That we would do it simultaneously is testament to just exactly what is possible when you put two extremely clumsy people together, without supervision, or emergency service personnel standing at the ready .
